Night of Joy has been a very successful hard ticket event for Walt Disney World. A hard ticket event in one that requires a separate ticket from normal daily operations. Inspired by events such as Grad Nite and Dixieland in Disneyland, Night of Joy was initially started in the 1970s at Disneyland in California. Later, it was moved across coasts to Walt Disney World in Florida. Since 1983, several Christian artists are invited to come and perform at one of Walt Disney World's theme parks. The Walt Disney World event originally was held at the Magic Kingdom, usually during the month of September on the weekend following Labor Day. In 2008, Night of Joy was moved to Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park and remained there for 2 years. In 2010 Night of Joy returned to the Magic Kingdom. In 2016 Disney has once again moved the event to an alternate venue, this time to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
